The Workout Of The Day for Friday,10.28.10 – “…Just admit it.”

Howdy folks.

Just admit it.

You’re tired.

If you did yesterday’s workout, I know you are.

Never fear. We’re going to take it kind of easy today. We’re going for a

Two Hour Moderate Ride –

Get on your bike.

Go ride for at least an hour, preferably more like two.

No hard efforts, but do throw in a couple of moderate ones. By moderate, I mean just that. You can sprint for the town line, but you should be laughing while you do it.

You’re not doing a recovery spin, so you need to put a little bit of gas into the pedals… just don’t go out and kill yourself.

Check out the view, smell the flowers, just do it while you’re putting a little bit of effort into the pedals.

1 notch above a recovery ride.

Make sense?

Have fun!

  1. Let’s say a fella slacked off today and missed “Two minutes to Midnight”. Would it be advisable to work that in on Friday without worry of impacting peak output at Steilacoom?

    BTW: Thanks for this blog.

    • Hi Jason,
      Thanks for the question.
No, don’t try and throw the intervals in on Friday, especially if you are really aiming for good legs on Sunday. You’re better off taking it easy(ish,) on Friday. You can hit the openers with some vigor on Saturday, and then bring fresh legs to the race.

Unless you are training through a race, I almost always recommend a moderate or easy day 2 days before the race.

      Great question, thanks!

  2. you are right I AM tired after yesterday!
Great workout, didn’t think I’d manage to finish the 2nd set, never mind the 3rd.

  3. Matt, in a previous workout you mentioned that you would post a stretching routine if people wanted. I would very much like to see a post on that. I love it when you lead the stretching on Wednesday nights, but unfortunately I can never remember it well enough afterwards to do it myself.

    • Hi Lee,

Nice to hear that folks (well, ok… one person, at least) like(s) my weirdo stretching routines! I will get on it, and see what I can put together…
