Lance coming back?
Blecchh.
Word is starting to circulate that LA is thinking about staging a “F-you, I’m clean, and always was” comeback to cycling.
This would be great for business; like it or not, more Lance equals more bike sales. Monetary interest aside though, I would be sorry to see this happen. Cycling needs to navigate it’s sorry ass completely away from the EPO era, and LA has become synonymous with that time. For good or ill, whether he personally was clean or not, he ruled a filthy roost, and a large number of people will never believe that a clean rider was able to dominate a peloton replete with convicted dopers.
Best case scenario, LA comes back, passes every test imaginable, and cleans house. Everyone who believes he was doping “back in the day” will continue to believe it.
Worst case scenario?
I don’t even want to think about it…
